Taking its name from The Juniper Tree, a tale collected by the brothers Grimm, Red as Blood, White as Snow navigates various themes explored in European folk literature in an effort to investigate impact of these conceptualizations through image culture. The resulting book makes use of key elements of The Juniper Tree’s plot in order to engage with notions of the photographic, in particular its ability to construct narrative, and its often complicated relationship with the truth.
